This was a plain-jane H-code (351-2v) fastback with the only options being AM radio, power steering, power brakes, fold down rear seat automatic transmission and whitewall tires, originally painted Silver Jade Metallic.

I went to Fresno CA to visit my brother with cash in hand for a really cool 65 Fastback for sale in Sacramento. Unfortunately, that car sold as I was getting on the plane, so I thought I would nose around while in California for anything rust free, cool and that could take the drive home to Minneapolis. After looking for days in the Collector Car listings and not finding any values, I decided to just look in the regular Ford listings and found this car. I was able to drive it home, with a stop in Vegas for a convention along the way. I spent the first week with a razor blade and solvent removing nasty purple window tint, stupid kiddy add-ons and doing general maintenance to survive the drive home. It has been a money pit ever since.

After stripping to the bare shell in 2010 it is now a GT clone in Champagne Gold (factory color) with black GT stripes and the interior has been upgraded to the Deluxe Interior. It is now a lot closer to what I would have ordered in 1969.
